The Earl Hamner Playwrights Conference has been cancelled for 2008.

We will be happy to receive scripts for our upcoming mini-conference, dates to be arranged.

The Hamner Theater is actively seeking submissions for both the mini-conference, Virginia Playwrights Initiative, scheduled for April 25 - May 11, and the 3rd Annual Playwrights Conference, which will run from June 9 - June 29 this year.

Deadline for submissions is April 1 for both events.

Plays may be sent electronically to boomie (at)thehamnertheater.com, or via snail mail to The Hamner Theater, PO Box 106, Nellysford, VA 22958. Please enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope if you would like to have your play returned, and indicate for which conference you are applying .

We are looking for playwrights with a commitment to rewriting and workshopping their plays, to move them closer to a production-ready state.

The conference opportunities include working closely with a collaborative team of director and dramaturg, as well as with actors. There will be a staged reading of the work at the Hamner Theater which will be open to the public.

We are not looking for "finished" plays for the conferences, although we are always happy to read original work and consider it for production in our season.
